Anna Majeski, 87, of the South Side, reacts after seeing the newly finished historic South Side Market House, which also serves as the city’s most highly attended senior center. On Monday, the center reopened its first floor to seniors. The Market House has been closed due to structural issues for over a year. The City was able to complete the renovations ahead of schedule and approximately a half million under budget by deploying its public works’ tradesmen, instead of hiring private contractors to perform the repairs. Majeski, who grew up on the South Side and uses the facility said, "I'm getting goose pimples," as she looked at the new facility for the first time.
