Dormont Council rejected a mother's proposal to build a skatepark as a memorial to her two sons this month after residents on both sides of the issue made impassioned pleas. While some opposed the ideas other skateparks in the region have been looked at as models to what has worked and what hasn't. The region has many skateparks which are frequented by many skateboarders, in-line skaters, and bikers including X-treme Sports Park in Penn Hills, AE Ride Skatepark in Cranberry Township, and Monroeville's Boyce Park's skatepark.
