Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Robert Kaufman, 94, of McLean Virginia, a former executive officer on the USS Requin, joined the memorial aboard the submarine docked along the Ohio River at the Carnegie Science Center on Sunday.  Kaufman, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, served in the Navy for 34 years and the entirety of World War II. He was aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay and witnessed the surrender of Japan, ending the war in September of 1945.
