Lincoln Visits Millvale by Justin Merriman

As the nation prepares to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address on November 19, Millvale celebrated Saturday with a visit from Ralph C. Lincoln of Berlin in Somerset County, a third cousin to President Abraham Lincoln.

The Millvale Community Library, which opened in August as the borough's only library in its 145-year history, organized the events which included a meet-and-greet with Lincoln as well as an interactive discussion by local historian Jack Puglisi about the life of Abraham Lincoln.

After events at the library, Ralph C. Lincoln, a member of The Association of Lincoln Presenters, whose members make public appearances as Abraham Lincoln or his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, visited businesses along Grant and North Avenues, including lunch at Pamela's Diner in the Lincoln Pharmacy. He ended his tour by reciting the Gettysburg Address from the steps in front of Mr. Smalls Theatre.
