Redevelopment

The former Masonic Temple building and the Garden Theater on Pittsburgh's North Side at West North Avenue and Reddour Street. Allegheny City Development, a joint venture between Philadelphia developer Wayne Zukin and Pittsburgh developer Craig Totino, is poised to begin restoring the buildings, which include the studio of famed Pittsburgh photographer, Charles 'Teenie' Harris. Domenic Branduzzi, owner of Piccolo Forno in Lawrenceville, plans to open a similar restaurant, Il Giardino, in the Garden Theater. City of Asylum will open a café, bar, performance space and bookstore inside the first floor of the Masonic Temple. Apartments are planned for the upper floors. The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh recently approved the sale of the buildings and financing for the $7 million project.
