Good Hope Observatory

Joe Gonzalez, 64, of Good Hope, West Virginia, stands with his telescope in his observatory on Tuesday afternoon, February 7, 2012. Gonzalez, the president of the Central Appalachian Astronomy Club, built the "Good Hope Observatory" in his back yard and it houses West Virginia's largest telescope. From his own back yard, he has been able to view the light from stars from 10,000 light-years away.
